About
I'm a software engineer by trade—I spent years working on lighting and rendering systems. Somewhere along the way I started tying rope, and it stuck.
Now I teach in a small tatami room in the Castro. What I like about rope is how physical it is. You can read about it all you want, but at some point you just have to pick it up and feel how it moves.
I'm not formally trained. I learned from friends, workshops, and a lot of practice. I'm careful about what I teach—I stay within what I know well, and I'm honest about what I'm still figuring out.
If you have questions or want to talk about rope, email me. I'm always happy to chat.
The space
The studio is in my home in the Castro, San Francisco. Natural light, tatami mats, a bamboo frame for suspension. Quiet street. Easy parking.
